about

This track was previously given the name "Devil's Tower" but it has since come to the artist's attention that this name is considered by many to be disrespectful of the place it is inspired by. While there is much debate still about the official name of the place, Boreal Network chooses to honor the personal memories of being in its presence that inspired the song by giving it a more respectful name. "Devil's Tower" was first coined by Lt. Col. Richard Irving Dodge, who held racist beliefs towards American Indians and relied on what was probably bad translation to arrive at the name. 'Bear Lodge' refers instead to the Kiowa oral history that tells of seven girls who escaped from a group of attacking bears by praying to the rock which would become the tower.
